About the Artist
Martha Lee is a Yawuru and Karajarri woman from Broome. Her art has a strong sense of pattern and colour influenced by the Kimberley landscape and traditional stories. This design is inspired by mangoes that grow abundantly in Man-gala, the wet season when all the plants are growing fast and the trees are fruiting.
Yawuru Jarndu Aboriginal Corporation, trading as Nagula Jarndu (Saltwater Woman), is a not-for-profit women’s art centre based in Broome, Western Australia. The organisation’s main function is to support Aboriginal women in the development and maintenance of oral language, history, and cultural traditions, as well as addressing concerns underlying health, and social and emotional well-being.
Purchase of fabric directly supports the artist.
