Dorothy Gabori is a Kaiadilt woman who creates vibrant artworks using watercolour, acrylic paint and brightly coloured felt wool. Amanda often collaborates with sisters Dorothy and Elsie. Inspired by Bentinck Island, their ancestral homeland in Queensland’s Gulf of Carpentaria, the sisters were first encouraged to paint by their mother, Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015), one of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary artists.
