About the artist
Hannah Parker lives in Cairns, Far North Queensland, and her art practice includes printmaking, textiles and watercolour painting. Hannah received her art training at the University of Wollongong where she majored in printmaking and writing. Her recent works explore place and identity using traditional stories, personal narratives, and drawing on local landscape imagery.
‘This project, about flora and fauna in our region of Far North Queensland, gave me inspiration to paint images of endangered and threatened species and habitats - 5 images of the underwater world, and 5 images of land. Once I put brush to paper, I very quickly realised the difficulty of interpreting this subject – individuals and systems of enormous beauty, scope and energy living with constant threat and destruction from our lifestyle.’
