Lorraine Hunter is a Yawuru woman and spent her childhood travelling between Derby and Broome. Her influences are native and other Broome plants as well the abundant coastal life on offer in Yawuru saltwater county.
Yawuru Jarndu Aboriginal Corporation, trading as Nagula Jarndu (Saltwater Woman), is a not-for-profit women’s art centre based in Broome, Western Australia. The organisation’s main function is to support Aboriginal women in the development and maintenance of oral language, history, and cultural traditions, as well as addressing concerns underlying health, and social and emotional well-being.
